Fondation, de Formation continue pour le cinéma et l'audiovisuel. I work regularly within the European 'auteur' and the American 'studio' traditions. In my view, both traditions have reached an impasse and FOCAL gives me, as a mentor, the opportunity to develop alternatives through intense workshops, where DOPs and directors can co-write the script, where they can co-edit the film, where we explore together new ways of filmmaking. As an independent training provider, FOCAL supports such rigorous explorations. This is essential for film professionals to maintain and develop their creative edge.
