As a former British colony, the official language
of Dominica is English. Creole is also widely
spoken by the local population.
The
Commonwealth of Dominica, commonly known as
Dominica, must not be mistaken for the Dominican
Republic (Spanish). Dominica is an English
speaking island in the Eastern Caribbean situated
between the French departments of Guadeloupe to
the north and Martinique to the south.
