In 1952, the Indonesian Embassy in Bern was
formally established and it was also accredited
for the Indonesian Mission for the United Nations
and General Agreement of Trade and Tariffs (GATT)
in Geneva. Since 1954 until 1965, the Indonesian
Embassy in Bern is accredited for the Indonesian
representation in Vatican, and from 1957 until
1967 the Embassy was accredited for Indonesian
representation for Spain.
In 1967 the
Indonesian Mission to the United Nations in Geneva
was established thus the Indonesian Embassy in
Bern was formally separated and its function is
only for bilateral relations between Indonesia and
Switzerland. In the beginning, the Indonesian
Embassy had its office in Hotel Bellevue Bern. A
few months later the Embassy rent a building in
Wiladingweg 10, Bern. In 1956 the Embassy moved to
Elfenstrasse 9, and in 1972 the Embassy bought a
building in Elfenauweg 51 which is now the office
of the Indonesian Embassy to S
